AIOU Regional Office MULTAN – Overview

The AIOU Regional Office MULTAN began serving students in the historic city of shrines in November 1976. It was the first regional campus to be established shortly after the foundation of the Allama Iqbal Open University. The campus operates from its own two buildings, covering an area of 14 Kanals, and is supported by a dedicated team of 21 staff members who actively guide and assist students.

Districts and Tehsils Covered

This region of Multan encompasses two districts – Multan and Khanewal – along with seven Tehsils:

  • Khanewal
  • Kabirwala
  • Jahania
  • Mianchannu
  • Jalalpur Pirwala
  • Shuja’Abad
  • Multan

The area is a flat, fertile plain with a population of approximately 2.1 million. Multan, famously known as the “City of Saints and Shrines”, is a bustling hub of markets, mosques, shrines, and historically rich tombs. With a literacy rate exceeding 60%, it boasts one of the highest educational achievements in southern Punjab.

Enrollment and Academic Support

For the Spring 2022 semester, the AIOU Regional Office MULTAN enrolled 13,465 students. The campus is supported by 706 tutors, ensuring personalized academic guidance. Additionally, 16 examination centers operate under the Multan regional campus to facilitate smooth assessments and evaluations.
